The 4PHD packs the punch of larger 550-size, 2-pole motors, and offers drivers the instantaneous throttle response achieved by 4-pole motors. The 4PHD is available in a 4600 kV rating, has an ultra-duty Neodymium rotor that is KeVLA r-wrapped and rides on high-RPM ABEC 5 ball bearings treated with Novak’s Speed Lube premium bearing oil. 4-Pole Vs 2-Pole:
What is the difference between a 4-pole and a 2-pole motor? More magnetic poles on the rotor, and more coils in the stator mean the motor is suited for hard acceleration and heavier loads. While the 2-pole motors, such as the Ballistic 550, thrive in high-RPM ranges, 4-pole motors will be superior in the flat-out acceleration race and constant low-to-mid RPM pulls. 4-pole motors thrive in heavier rigs, and typically run better on smaller tracks with lots of short acceleration requirements. The 4PHD is not your standard 540-size 4-pole motor! It is slightly longer and packs an extra punch while remaining more compact than a 550-sized motor. It’s the best of both worlds!
